Oral Roberts University is adding yet another new building to its growing campus.
The Tulsa-based university held a groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday for a new media arts center (MAC), construction scheduled to begin in early December.
The MAC will be located on the north side of the campus and will house the music, theater, dance and digital media programs. Construction of the over 72,000 square foot building is expected to be completed in April 2024.
This is now ORU’s fourth inauguration in 2021, with the new library, visitor center and sports facilities. The MAC will house production studios, a musical performance hall, a 450-seat theater, a Black Box theater, practice spaces and much more. ORU President Dr William M. Wilson said it would be two floors for a price of $ 38 million – none of it coming from tuition fees.
His hope is that this new space will equip students with the best technology to make them leaders in their field.
âIn other words: we don’t want to just send someone filled with the Holy Spirit to perform on Broadway. We want to send someone to Broadway who will write Broadway plays that will change the world and have an impact on Broadway. the glory of God. “
Dr Wilson also announced on Wednesday that ORU had recently obtained the results of its placement rate. He said he found that over 99.5% of graduates as of May 2021 were either employed in their field or enrolled in higher education.
