Media Arts Lawyers expands to Brisbane

Entertainment company Media Arts Lawyers will soon begin its expansion into Brisbane, adding to its existing offices in Melbourne, Sydney and Auckland.

New partner Marcus Walkom will oversee the new office based in Fortitude Valley, which is close to the entertainment district and the location of Bigsound, the southern hemisphere’s largest music industry gathering.

On expanding to Brisbane, Media Arts Lawyers said it was an “obvious next choice” for the firm and to establish a physical presence and provide another “perfect location” to serve more widely Queensland and northern New South Wales.

Commenting on this new role, Mr Walkom said: “I am extremely excited to open the office and grateful for the support and guidance of fellow partners David Vodicka, Stephen King, Julian Hewitt, Yasmin Naghavi and Rob Glass.”

Mr Walkom added that Brisbane had, until recently, been overshadowed by Sydney and Melbourne. With growing recognition of the city’s creative and cultural hub, he said it “made sense for the business” to continue growing in the new location.

With the appointment of Mr. Walkom, the firm now has six partners and 14 lawyers.

“I look forward to serving the vibrant music, entertainment and creative industries across Queensland and northern New South Wales as the region continues its evolution into a globally recognized home for the arts,” commented Mr. Walkom.
